The School Achievement Award recognised the improvement made at Falmer in the past twelve months, the award also included a £19,600 bonus. The second award was in recognition of work done to reduce truancy. Falmer High was one of only fifty schools in the United Kingdom to receive this recognition and a bonus of £8,000. Falmer High School's well deserved success has also been recognised as an orderly and business like community. A visit by Her Majesty's Inspectors in October 2000 indicated there had been a sea change for the better. Over 93% of lessons were judged to be satisfactory or better.
